Built Through Experience, Not Theory

Our Story & Purpose

Hovis Capital was not built from academic theory. It was forged through adversity, hundreds of real transactions, and a clear vision for lasting impact.

The Founder's Journey

Forged In November 2008

Brad Hovis did not begin his real estate career with significant capital, exceptional credit, or institutional relationships. His journey began during one of the most difficult financial periods of his life.

"In November 2008, my wife stood inside a Target store holding a dress that cost approximately $50 for a wedding that night. She called to ask if there was room on the credit card. There wasn't. She found something in her closet and looked amazing. I cried. I didn't feel like a man."

That moment forced Brad to confront how little financial control he actually had despite working hard. He realized income alone was not enough — wealth required owning productive assets.

In August 2010, Brad completed his first real estate transaction with less than $600 in available cash and a credit score below 600.

He continued acquiring properties. One strategy led to acquiring 51 homes in a single transaction, producing over $3M in profit and equity. Another involved taking control of a hotel that cash-flowed $100k/year for a decade before selling for $5.2M.

Across his career, Brad has participated in over 500 transactions exceeding $90M in volume. But the most valuable result was an unwavering investment philosophy.

Our Ultimate Mission

Making Christian Education Available for All

Every organization eventually answers two questions: What do we do? And why do we do it?

Hovis Capital exists to acquire, finance, and steward productive assets. But our ultimate purpose is making Christ-centered education accessible to families around the world regardless of financial status.

The Vision
To build one of the world's great private endowments for Christian education.

Not through temporary campaigns or fundraising, but through disciplined ownership, conservative investing, and the long-term stewardship of productive, cash-flowing real assets.
